Isla drove back to Holland Park. Asking her if she was sober enough to do so wasn’t an option. Approaching Westbourne Grove, Valeria asked if Isla could drop them off.

‘Here?’ Isla said.

‘Yes, thank you,’ Valeria answered.

The rain hadn’t stopped, but was no longer a downpour.

Pamela followed Valeria out of the car without questioning her decision.

‘I guess tomorrow morning we’ll be too tired for the sitting,’ Isla said before they closed the door.

‘You wake up and let me know,’ Valeria answered. She wanted to be in the Aclàs’ house no matter how tired she was. She wanted to see Martìn. And Antonia too.

‘Thank you for tonight. Without you two it would have been a nightmare,’ Isla said.

‘Don’t worry,’ they both answered. ‘It’s the least we could do. Goodnight.’
